A 1 year old's birthday party

You'd think it would be relatively simple to plan a birthday party for a 1 year old but obviously I was way wrong or I would not be posting this. When I originally got the idea to rent the pool for the party I hadn't imagined how BLOWN out of proportion I'd allow this EVENT to get. So, between the pool facility, DJ, 2 cakes, food (simple), decorations, invitations, and partyware I have spent a pretty penny. My son's father was suppose to share in this lovely occassion by taking on 1 or more tasks but the old addage "If you want something done right then do it yourself" slapped me in the forehead. He was suppose to create a party invite that we could just print out and hand to people like a "club flyer" but it was not......ummm.....well.......I didn't like it. Here is the one I made.....

I can only hope it is well worth it. I know CHristian will not remember it but it is just important to me to throw him a nice party. I think when you know that you might not get to see them all and experience all of your child's finer moments you become obsessed with making the ones guaranteed to you, wonderful.

MOE-Hawk

Well, this is known as free time gone wrong. This is a partially straightened infant mo-hawk. See, I have this strange inkling to play with my son's hair (lil hint that I need to have a daughter) while I am doing my hair. If he would just sit still and let me straighten it properly we would not have this BAD HAIR day problem. Unfortunately, he might be the first 11 month old to have ever been burnt by a flat iron. Bad Mommy! It is completely healed now but my urge to iron the poor boy's head of hair has not. Pray for me!

The Beginning.....

This is the end of a very long day. We (Christian and myself) woke at 6:30am for a quick bottle. We fell back to sleep, some quicker than others. I had a migraine so my head was spinning. We slept until a very late 8:15am. From 8:15 til 8:45 is a bit of a blur because it occurred at warp speed. My babysitter was 15 minutes late which was just enough time for the unattended one year old to shatter a candle holder and cut his finger. While sweeping up glass sitter arrives. I changed into my swim suit ( I lifeguard) and gathered all of my daily belongings. I work at a pool in an undesireable part of town thus the pool is antiquated. Due to the lack of cold water and/or refridgeration at the pool I dropped off my lunch at another aquatic facility. SHow up to a 4 foot pool that only has 2 foot of water in it. Let's just say it made swimming lessons very interesting. Afterwards I spent my 30minute lunch break exercising at a nearby walking trail. Ate lunch on pool deck after exercising. Then, too my surprise a wondorous bolt of lightening followed by rolling thunder graced us all. After closing the pool I ran a few errands. I picked up Christian and met up with mom for a little shopping. Visited with my sister and her children before heading home. By 7:00 I was home and had Christian settled in bed by 9:00.
Now, I am in pj's, watching a new episode of someone else's reality which gives me a break from my own!
